Other World Computing Partners With The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus As 2018 Official Presenting Sponsor
Partnership will consist of numerous live events and activities throughout the year, including the NAMM Show, SXSW and Come Together NYC residency
NEW YORK, Jan. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus (The Lennon Bus), the premier, non-profit 501(c)(3) mobile pro-audio, video and photo production studio that provides hands-on experiences for students of all ages since 1998, today announced Other World Computing (OWC), as the presenting sponsor of the 2018 Lennon Bus. This marks the fifth year that OWC has partnered with the bus and the first that it will be the presenting sponsor.
As an advocate for arts and digital media education, the Lennon Bus works with educators and school administrators across the U.S. to underscore the importance of these subject areas within the core curriculum. Lennon Bus travels across the U.S. year-round, providing free tours and workshops at schools, retailers, festivals, on tours with headlining artists, and at major industry conferences.
As the 2018 presenting sponsor of all the Lennon Bus events and productions, OWC products, including docks, production-grade SSDs, external hard drives and expansion products, will be demonstrated, used and promoted during the 2018 tour. The Lennon Bus will feature an OWC exclusive experience within tents at events and onboard workshops throughout the year, which will allow visitors a hands-on experience with OWC products.
The Lennon Bus and OWC will be awarding a $20,000 cash prize during the 2018 John Lennon Songwriting Contest (JLSC) with the "OWC Song of the Year" honor. The JLSC is an international songwriting contest that began in 1997 and is open to amateur and professional songwriters who submit entries in any one of 12 categories. Past artists who have been recognized by the JLSC, before their rise to fame, include Meghan Trainor, American Authors, Magic! and many more.
The Lennon Bus will kick off its 2018 tour next week at the NAMM Show in Anaheim. The Lennon Bus will present main stage performances including John Lennon Songwriting Contest winners, as well as multi-platinum recording artist Andy Grammar at the Lennon Bus "Imagine Party". That event is scheduled for Saturday, January 27th, in association with the NAMM Foundation, which mirrors the mission of the Lennon Bus by advancing active participation in music making across the lifespan through philanthropic giving and public service programs.
In March, the Lennon Bus will produce an all-inclusive OWC experience at the SXSW Film/Music Festival. Numerous activities and performances will be targeted at engaging festival attendees and media with promotions rooted in spectacle, content sharing and live events. The whole experience will be immortalized in a short film created by the Lennon Bus students and mentors in partnership with the Texas Association of School Administrators.
This fall, OWC will present the Lennon Bus' Come Together NYC residency, celebrating John Lennon's birthday with support from the Mayor's office, New York City Council and Department of Cultural Affairs. The one-month program includes school visits, block parties, retail events, concerts, peace signs, promotions, giveaways, donations and world premieres.
"We love music and technology, and take great pride in the fact that our products allow musicians and producers to capture their creations, recordings and live performances. Being able to watch a new generation of students realize their musical potential and gain an understanding of technology through our sponsorship with the Lennon Bus is a huge win for OWC", said Other World Computing Founder Larry O'Connor.
