OULA PROVIDED BY STAMFORD HEALTH OPENS NEW MATERNITY CLINIC IN CONNECTICUT
STAMFORD, Conn., Sept. 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Oula provided by Stamford Health has opened its new clinic in Norwalk, Connecticut. A partnership between Oula and Stamford Health, the practice is Stamford Health's first midwifery offering, combining Oula's midwife-led, collaborative care-based model with Stamford Health's nationally recognized maternity services. A second clinic location for Oula provided by Stamford Health is also planned for Connecticut in 2026.
Each year, about 2,400 babies are born at Stamford Hospital, and demand for midwifery care continues to rise. According to Oula's 2023 State of Maternity Care Survey, nearly 80% of women want a model of care that integrates midwives and OB-GYNs. The Norwalk clinic responds to this need by expanding access to integrated, person-centered maternity care in Fairfield County.
The new clinic offers a welcoming space where patients can access the full spectrum of maternity care. From thoughtfully designed exam rooms and cozy waiting areas stocked with nutritious snacks and hand-picked resources, every detail is designed to help patients feel comfortable and cared for throughout their journey. The clinic provides care from preconception through postpartum, supported by a team of midwives, OB-GYNs, and dedicated care navigators. Patients also have access to telehealth, 24/7 virtual support, expert resources and workshops, and an exclusive digital community. Gynecology services are also offered.
"A pillar of our strategy as an independent health system is to collaborate with like-minded, high-quality organizations for patient care," remarked Kathleen Silard, President and CEO at Stamford Health. "Our patients expect and deserve a variety of care options. This new clinic will expand access and allow individual patients and their care partners innovative and high-quality midwifery care options throughout their prenatal and postpartum care journeys."
All patients at Oula provided by Stamford Health will deliver at Stamford Hospital supported by a team of nurses, OB-GYNs, hospitalists, neonatologists, and physicians specializing in maternal fetal medicine, prenatal and postpartum behavioral health, genetic counseling, and more. Patients at Stamford Hospital will benefit from the new, multi-million-dollar renovation of the Whittingham Pavilion, which houses all mother-baby services, including the new Hackett Family Maternity Unit, Cohen Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Susan Falk Rapoport Women's Specialty Center and The Hollander Family Birthing Center. The experience includes all private maternity rooms, a patient-led visitor policy, and well-baby nursery support available 24/7.
"We are thrilled to open Oula provided by Stamford Health, and to bring Connecticut-area patients the comprehensive, collaborative care we know they are looking for," says Adrianne Nickerson, Oula Co-Founder and CEO. "We know a majority of women are interested in care that integrates midwifery and OB-GYN.1 This new practice draws on Stamford Health's long-standing excellence in maternity care, coupled with our proven approach that drives best-in-class patient outcomes, experience, and equity."
Since opening in 2021, Oula has supported more than 2,500 births and consistently exceeded New York City maternity benchmarks2 across race and payer type — with 62% lower rates of preterm birth and 29% lower cesarean birth rates. This Norwalk location marks Oula's second market expansion and the first of two Connecticut clinics planned with Stamford Health. Oula provided by Stamford Health accepts most major insurance plans, including Medicaid, ensuring that more families have access to best-in-class maternity care that centers the patient and their needs.
