Over 20 Prominent Advocacy Leaders to Address the Hispanic Leadership Network's "Inspiring Action" Conference in Miami
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich to join gathering of Hispanics
WASHINGTON, Jan. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Hispanic Leadership Network (HLN), a center-right advocacy action group, today announced the agenda for its "Inspiring Action" conference to be held on Thursday, January 26th, and Friday, January 27th, at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa Hotel in Miami, Florida. Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and former Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez will serve as conference co-chairs.
The two-day gathering will bring together more than 20 distinguished speakers and panelists, including former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, former Labor and Education Secretaries Elaine L. Chao and Margaret Spellings respectively, and former U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin.
"I am proud to be speaking at the HLN conference. Hispanics constitute a tremendous and growing component of our nation's fabric. Together we must confront the challenges that concern us all and build stronger communities that ensure that Hispanics, like all Americans, have access to a better education, competitive wages, and quality healthcare," said U.S. Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen.
"Immigrants have always contributed to the social fabric and development of this nation. With a growing population, it's more important now than ever that we advocate for policies that put the educational well-being of our youth first," stated former U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings.
The conference kicks off on Thursday night with a welcoming reception and debate watching party. HLN is a co-host with CNN and the Republican Party of Florida of that night's presidential debate. CNN will provide live coverage from the HLN debate watching party.
"We are proud to be bringing together center-right Hispanic leaders and activists to discuss the issues that most affect our community. We hope to inspire Latinos nationwide to continue the policy debate long after our conference and become active civic leaders fully engaged in the important issues of our country," said HLN Executive Director Jennifer S. Korn.
On Friday, the conference program features two panel discussions on job creation and the workforce and immigrants. Former White House Advisor to President George W. Bush, Ed Gillespie, will deliver the keynote address on the power of the Latino population in America. In addition, there will be three training sessions focusing on grassroots advocacy, media, and policy issues.
