Oxford Treatment Center opens new outpatient campus
Facilities designed to support long-term recovery
OXFORD, Miss., Aug. 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- American Addiction Centers (AAC) has opened new facilities to help more people access long-term treatment and a successful recovery. AAC's Oxford Treatment Center recently debuted a new 12,000-square-foot outpatient office and adjacent 48-bed sober living community. The facilities are 30 miles from the center's residential campus at Etta, Miss., and 5 miles from the University of Mississippi.
AAC CEO Michael Cartwright described the new outpatient campus as one of the best he's seen across the country. It is primarily designed to support people transitioning from residential treatment for drug or alcohol addiction. They can begin regaining independence while living in a staff-monitored sober community and receiving outpatient care.
"We know that what works is long-term care," Cartwright said. "While the success rate after 30 days is only about 20 percent, someone who spends at least 90 days in treatment has an 80-percent chance of still being clean and sober after a year. Length of care makes that big a difference."
The new outpatient facility also provides community services including drug testing, assessments and family support groups. Its evening Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) serves local people who can keep working or going to school while getting help for drug or alcohol problems.
The outpatient center will also be a hub for professional development in the region. The Mississippi Association of Addiction Professionals will be using it as the north Mississippi training site for its addiction counselor training program. Oxford Treatment Center is working with regional partners to schedule CEU opportunities for mental health providers.
