PA Liquor Control Board to Unveil New Chairman's Selection™ Wines During 2011 Rittenhouse Row Spring Festival

HARRISBURG, Pa., May 19, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Joining the annual celebration of food, fashion and culture, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board will unveil five new Chairman's Selection™ wines during the 2011 Rittenhouse Row Spring Festival.

"We're pleased to again be part of this annual event which showcases one of the greatest areas in Philadelphia," said PLCB Chairman Patrick J. "PJ" Stapleton. "As one of the first major spring festivals in the area, we couldn't think of a better place to launch five, new exciting vintages for Pennsylvania wine lovers."

The festival, held in Philadelphia's historic Rittenhouse Square, will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on May 21. The PLCB will again host a Wine & Spirits store and tasting area, where visitors aged 21 and older can enjoy complimentary samples of 20 Chairman Selection wines, including the five new selections being launched exclusively at the festival.  Customers purchasing from the PLCB on-site store will receive a complimentary wine tote, while supplies last.

Renowned PLCB wine buyer Steve Pollack will be on hand educating visitors about each selection and will be available to answer questions during the tasting.  Attendees are reminded to bring ID for age verification.

More than 200 center city businesses are members of Rittenhouse Row, a not-for-profit organization that promotes the area from Broad to 22nd Streets, between Market and Pine. Some 60 restaurants that are licensed by the Liquor Control Board are part of this group, and many will offer their own menu items to sample during the festival. Live music, fashion shows and children's activities will also be part of the afternoon event.  

The Chairman's Selection™ program offers select highly rated wines at often the best prices in the country.  While the greatest numbers of selections are from various appellations in California, the program has grown to include wines from all over the world.
