PaCentric® Yields Improved Outcome for Trauma Patients

Acute patient transport to specialty clinics

In cases where an acutely diseased or injured patient needs a transfer to a specialty hospital, he or she needs access to our radiological images. In the past, this was achieved by burning the examination images onto a CD or DVD, which was sent together with the patient in the helicopter or ambulance.

This procedure had several drawbacks:

• In cases of large image datasets, the CD burning procedure was time consuming;

• Potential technical failure of the network or burnrobot, yielding poor quality CDs with technical problems when these were read or imported;

• In the CD-based workflow, the receiving clinic could not view the examination before arrival of the patient. This could delay lifesaving treatment.

The value of the PaCentric® system

After our installation of PaCentric®, the receiving clinic can access our radiological images even before the patient has left Friedrichshafen. This results in improved quality and increased patient security. Indeed, the receiving clinic can, thanks to the early image access, conclude that the referral is not appropriate and thus avoid unnecessary patient transport with the possibility to expedite needed care elsewhere.

To further increase patient data security, PaCentric® has been configured to enable the direct transfer of images from CT and CT and MRI workstations. This option can be used, for example, in the event of PACS failure.

In an emergency setting, the recipient can be given instructions on how to access the radiological images via telephone and/or email.

Outpatient examinations

Many referring physicians, above all, orthopedic surgeons, expect to see the images of the radiological examinations in addition to the report. PaCentric® enables the referring physician to have access to the associated images in the same patient report. Keeping all relevant information in one place will increase patient data security.

A truly flexible system

In conclusion, PaCentric® is a very flexible system, which enables both improved workflow and security in the external transfer of radiological examinations. The anonymity of the exams is secured without leased lines or VNP, resulting in a significant cost reduction compared to competing solutions. A unique feature of PaCentric® is that the recipient is not required to do any software installations or other preparations upfront. PaCentric® has its own internet viewer with CE and FDA certification intended for recipients who do not have any DICOM enabled device available, or to simply cover immediate review needs.

PaCentric® is vendor neutral, which means that any DICOM enabled device can be used directly without need for other external applications.

PaCentric® is very affordable, with an annual cost of between 1 700 and 8 000 Euro for an entire hospital, with connection to an unlimited amount of devices and unlimited amount of deliveries, including full technical support.

Regular recipients are recommended to install the "receive only" version of PaCentric® to optimize convenience. The exams are then exported directly to the professional work station of the recipient. This option is available for only 500 Euro per year.
