Palmetto Publishing Releases New Sourced Collection of Presidential Quotations, Not My President

Newly published by Palmetto Publishing, the book gathers forty-eight verbatim quotations from Donald J. Trump, each followed by a footnote naming the speaker, the venue, and the date.

CHARLESTON, S.C., Oct. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Palmetto Publishing has released Not My President, a compiled collection of presidential quotations drawn entirely from the public record. The book presents forty-eight numbered entries, one quotation apiece, each followed by a plain citation. The compiler adds no jokes and offers no analysis. The quotations are reproduced as delivered, with the speaker, occasion, city, and date attached.

The book opens on a signing ceremony. On July 10, 2019, at the signing of an executive order on advancing American kidney health in Washington, D.C., the sitting President said, "The kidney has a very special place in the heart." In Not My President the sentence appears exactly as spoken, the footnote arrives, and the page turns to the next entry. The sources span rally stages, Oval Office scrums, cabinet meetings, Twitter, a livestream, a town hall, and the deck of Air Force One, from a 1999 interview with the New York Times to remarks made deep into a second term.

The entries are grouped loosely by subject rather than chronology. Health care sits near testing and kidneys. Tariffs sit near inflation. Generals sit near the Civil War. Kim Jong-un sits near a stretch of North Korean beach described as a fine site for condominiums. Read in sequence across three decades of transcripts, the repetitions begin to look less like isolated gaffes and more like a method. What emerges is a portrait assembled out of the subject's own sentences.

The author stated, " My life has taught me the importance of being politically impartial. To objectively examine the policies proposed and implemented by our elected leaders. But most importantly to honestly examine the results of those policies. Today we see Americans divided politically, as if we are fans cheering for our favorite team to win. I spent years listening to how American institutions talk about themselves, and I came away with a sense of the distance between what gets said behind the podium and what gets put into practice. That widening gap is the inspiration for this book."

The book is positioned for politically engaged adult readers who follow the news closely, prefer dry humor delivered without commentary, and want the primary sourcing that turns a punchline into a citation. It sits alongside quotation anthologies and documentary political humor rather than analysis or memoir, and arrives at a moment when claims about who said what, and when, circulate faster than the transcripts behind them. At roughly a quotation a page, it is built for browsing and for checking.

The author is a veteran of the Global War on Terror who was raised in New England by parents born in the Jim Crow South, a background the author credits for a long-standing interest in what official rhetoric can cost the people it describes.

About the Author: Before compiling a book of other people's words, the author spent years listening to how American institutions talk about themselves. A veteran of the Global War on Terror, the author came away from that service with a close, firsthand sense of the distance between what gets said at a podium and what gets carried out by the people under it. That gap is the subject of Not My President.

Raised in New England by parents born in the Jim Crow South, the author grew up with a generational memory of what official rhetoric can cost the people it describes. It is a lens that tends to make a person careful about sourcing. Every entry in Not My President: Dumb Things Said by the 45th and 47th President of the United States carries a date, a venue, and a speaker, and the compiler adds nothing else. The joke, such as it is, belongs entirely to the record.

The author describes the project as the work of an independent thinker rather than a partisan one, which in practice means a refusal to editorialize where a transcript will do. Rally remarks, Oval Office asides, cabinet meetings, a tweet at midnight: the quotations are gathered, numbered, footnoted, and left alone. Readers can draw their own conclusions.
