What are we commemorating?
2014 marks the twentieth year since the horrific events of the Genocide against the Tutsis in Rwanda. Kiwibuka20 will commemorate the Genocide against the Tutsis of Rwanda and remember the loved ones lost. It is also an opportunity to reaffirm support for the development and recovery of Rwanda.
Palo Alto University's Provost, Dr. William Froming, along with Dr. Karen Froming have spent the last 10 years visiting Rwanda to provide teaching, workshops and counselling to the genocide survivors. Dr. Froming remarked, "20 years since the horrific genocide in Rwanda, this is an important time not only for Rwandans but all people to stop and remember those lost and reflect on one of the darkest chapters in world history. It's also an opportunity to celebrate the great strides Rwanda has made over the last two decades and to look forward to a bright future, built on solid foundations. Palo Alto University is both humbled and proud to be an integral part of this significant event."
