Pappy Thanksgiving! Chevy Chase Inn is Selling Pappy Van Winkle at Cost

LEXINGTON, Ky., Nov. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Chevy Chase Inn, Lexington, KY's oldest bar, just received its allocation of Pappy Van Winkle and has decided to sell it to their customers at cost for an event they are calling "Pappy Thanksgiving." For one day only, they will be selling the highly sought after and tough-to-get bourbon at a price for all to enjoy. 

According to Kevin Heathcoat, an owner at Chevy Chase Inn, "We feel that bourbon this special should be enjoyed, not looked at. The prices being charged for Pappy Van Winkle has gotten out of control.  So many people right here in the heart of Bourbon Country can't afford to try this delicious bourbon.  Pappy is actually one of the most reasonably priced ultra-premium bourbons when it leaves the warehouse. Our industry and the secondary market is ruining it for working class bourbon lovers everywhere."

On Sunday, November 18^th, Chevy Chase Inn will sell their allotment of Pappy Van Winkle products at cost.  They will open their doors at 2:00pm and give everyone in line a wristband and a number.  At 4:30pm they will sell one pour per person. Heathcoat said they can guarantee pours for the first 75 people in line.  They will also have plenty of other bourbons on hand to enjoy as they have a very respectable bourbon selection for a tiny dive bar. Chevy Chase Inn will also raffle off some items donated by Buffalo Trace Distillery. 

Heathcoat said, "The idea behind the event of course happened after a few bourbons had been consumed. My partners and I had been enjoying some great Kentucky Bourbon when our Pappy was delivered. One of us said, 'Wouldn't it be nice if everyone could afford to try these bourbons?' That is when we got the idea to host our First Annual Pappy Thanksgiving. We sobered up and still thought it was a great idea, so here we are."
