RYE BROOK, N.Y., Dec. 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Paraco Gas recently partnered with nonprofit organization Give2TheTroops in an effort to help show support for American soldiers who are currently deployed overseas. Turning each of its branch offices into donation centers, the company was able to collect almost half a ton of donated items, along with over $5,000 in financial contributions, to send to the troops.

Donated items included handmade cards, banners, seasonal decorations and candy, Nerf footballs, wiffle bat and ball sets, DVDs, CDs, hats, gloves, blankets, sheets, snacks and more. A number of local organizations, including Boy Scout troops, Girl Scout troops, youth baseball teams and community service clubs, contributed with personalized banners and notes thanking troops for their protection and service.
Paraco Gas Regional Manager Bill Harris served as the coordinator for collection and drop-off efforts. "The amount of items that we were able to collect was just incredible," he said. He noted that the Give2TheTroops staff members were "amazed" by the collection efforts and donations that Paraco Gas delivered and shared their message to "please, please say thanks to everyone involved."
Paraco South President Mike Gioffre shared his gratitude as well. "Paraco has always made the commitment to give back to the communities we serve," he said. "We're honored to help support our troops and we're happy to have found an organization like Give2TheTroops to partner with. I'm so proud of our entire team for their efforts and for the contributions that we were able to make."
Give2TheTroops is a nonprofit organization based in Rocky Hill, Connecticut. Founded by Andi Grant Edwards, their goal is to show American troops that communities in every state support and appreciate them.
