NEW YORK, Dec. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Santa Claus is the biggest celebrity on the planet, and he rarely grants interviews. But Parade magazine chatted by Skype with the man of the season in the noisy North Pole workshop he shares with Mrs. Claus and a whole bunch of elves. You have so many nicknames. What should we call you?
"Santa is fine. You know, from time to time I've tried out new nicknames. The Toyminator. Chairman of the Fjord ... In Romania I'm Mos Craciun. I like that one because it kind of makes me sound like a rapper."
You've been portrayed in dozens of films. Do you have a favorite movie Santa?
"Edmund Gwenn in Miracle on 34th Street, of course. This may surprise you, but I'd also say Tim Allen in The Santa Clause. You know what Christmas movie I really like? Elf. That guy, what's his name—Will Ferrell! Gosh, he's funny. I guess you could say he sleighs me. Get it?"
How did you come up with "Ho Ho Ho"?
That's trademarked, by the way. You owe me twenty bucks. Kidding! Actually, I came up with that in the shower. These days I'd have to run it by a million focus groups, but back then it was just one man trying to capture the joy and spirit of yuletide in his bathroom."
Everyone thinks of you as being full of mirth, but deep down, are you happy?
"I couldn't be happier. Seriously, I have the best job ever. I bring smiles to children's faces. I spread glad tidings and good cheer. I have a reasonably good dental plan. Let's face it, I'm the luckiest guy in the world. So Merry Christmas, everyone! Ho Ho Ho!"™
