PLYMOUTH, Mass., July 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- People who know PartyLite know it's made up of thousands of people all over the world who are passionate about candles!
What they may not know is how passionate PartyLite people are about battling cancer.
PartyLite has been a major national supporter of the American Cancer Society since 1997. The PartyLite family of consultants, customers and employees has raised more than $15 million for this vital cause over the years because of the compassionate "heart of PartyLite."
Now, here's something else people may not know. The company's world headquarters is located in one of America's most historic small towns, Plymouth, Massachusetts. It's where the Pilgrims landed on Plymouth Rock. It's also on the historic New England coast where candle-making first began in the United States.
The people who live in the Plymouth area and work at PartyLite are not your typical corporate types. They're warm-hearted, friendly and welcoming. They're utterly devoted to going all out to support the American Cancer Society.
So in June, for the American Cancer Society's Greater Plymouth Relay For Life event, a team of PartyLite employees along with friends and family members did what they've done since 2002 - they participated in the annual event. This year the PartyLite Hometown Walkers raised $44,411 – a lot of money for one team and nearly one-third of the total raised by the Greater Plymouth Relay. Even more impressive? This year's effort took the 14-year total of funds raised for the American Cancer Society by this team to over $878,000.
"The amazing spirit of our home office team is truly impressive," said President of PartyLite Worldwide Rob Goergen. "This company is made up of people who are committed to keeping the flame of hope burning for as long as it takes to win the battle over cancer. I'm truly proud of each and every one of our people here in Plymouth and across PartyLite who have a heart for helping those in need."
Joan Connor, President of PartyLite North America and a member of The Society's New England Chapter of CEOs Against Cancer said, "Whether they helped with company fundraisers, raised funds on their own, helped at Relay, walked the track or did every one of those things, the PartyLite Hometown Walkers were awesome!"
