Paso Robles Growth In Popularity For New Wineries And Tourists

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- As the fastest-growing wine region, the Paso Robles American Viticultural Appellation (AVA) is now home to more than 180 Paso Robles wineries. Not surprisingly, the area is also seeing tremendous growth in popularity as a tourist destination. The region is very well known for Zinfandel grapes from which San Antonio winery produces the award winning Maddalena Zinfandel. Maddalena is the name of the winery's Matriarch.  Maddalena Zinfandel shows bright fruit flavors of ripe raspberry and sweet cherries. Barrel aging adds notes of cinnamon and spice.  The highly versatile Syrah grape is grown in many climates but is particularly well suited for the warm climate of Paso.  The coastal microclimate of the Pretty Penny Vineyard, in the Paso Robles East area, is ideal for the development of intense flavors and aromas, such as boysenberry and ripe plum.  From this vineyard, San Antonio Winery produces the award winning San Simeon Syrah. 

Travel to the region is much easier than in the past.  Visitors can take the U.S. 101 or drive the newly expanded 46 State Highway heading west from the I-5.
