PATCH Foundation is Giving 'Dollars for Likes' to United Cerebral Palsy

Foundation Established by International Union of Painters and Allied Trades Rallies Membership for Good Cause

HANOVER, Md., Oct. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- This week, the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) and the Painters and Allied Trades for Children's Hope Foundation (PATCH) launched a new campaign to benefit United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) and its My Child Without Limits community.

The PATCH Foundation announced it will donate $1 to UCP for each new "like" for www.Facebook.com/PATCHfoundation up to $10,000.

"Our members not only aspire to be good workers and good employees, but great community partners as well," said Ken Rigmaiden, executive general vice president of the IUPAT.  "We believe that being in a union is more than just looking out for ourselves, we have to look out for the communities where we work, and where we live."

"If we had more organizations like PATCH in the world, what would take us 10 or 20 years to accomplish, could be accomplished in days.  We're so grateful that PATCH and United Cerebral Palsy found one another."

Established in 1949 by a group of parents with children who had cerebral palsy, United Cerebral Palsy educates, advocates and provides support services for people with a spectrum of disabilities. The My Child Without Limits Support Community is an online resource for families of young children with developmental delays or disabilities.  It connects families, friends and caregivers for support and inspiration. 

The PATCH Foundation was founded in 2001 by the IUPAT with the mission to help children in need throughout North America and beyond.  Since then, the Foundation has given over $1 million to organizations across the United States and Canada supporting everything from medical care to youth athletics.
