LAS VEGAS, April 21, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The largest printing consumables market in the world is buzzing with the decision handed down by the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on April 14. Ed O'Connor, the patent attorney representing Impression Products against Lexmark will speak exclusively at the RT Imaging Summit on May 14-15 in Las Vegas.
O'Connor spoke exclusively with David Gibbons at RT Media about the Federal Circuit's rare decision to call the full bench in to make the final decision about patent rights on cartridges sold outside of the USA and restrictions on licensed products sold within the US (called 'prebate') (Watch the interview at vimeo.com).
O'Connor may well be fighting on behalf of just ONE cartridge remanufacturer in the US -- Impression Products -- yet the outcome will impact EVERY remanufacturer's business in the United States. O'Connor not only wants the case dismissed, but to see the current Jazz Photo and Mallinckrodt laws overturned by the United States Supreme Court.
He told RT Media -- publishers of the global Recycling Times magazine published separately each month in English, Chinese, Spanish, Russian and Korean languages -- he is delighted with the decision handed down in Washington DC. Even though the orders require both parties to file again for the full bench hearing, he sees it as an important strategic step forward for the aftermarket printing consumables industry.
Those attending the RT Imaging Summit & Expo on May 14 and 15 at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas will be briefed further by O'Connor, who has agreed to answer questions on the case at hand. Attendees can obtain more information, and click here to register.
OEMs will join aftermarket delegates to confront legal issues, market trends and new imaging technologies impacting the growth of print consumables. For more information visit: http://www.irecyclingtimes.com/Conference-Info?conference_id=17.
