Paul Moore, HBOS Whistleblower, to Deliver Keynote Address at MetricStream GRC Summit Europe 2014

LONDON, Aug. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Widely known as the HBOS Whistleblower, Paul Moore, a leading UK lawyer and specialist in governance, risk management, regulatory affairs, and ethics, will deliver a keynote address at the MetricStream GRC Summit Europe 2014. The Summit will be held from October 20-21, 2014 at the May Fair Hotel in London, U.K.

At the event, Mr. Moore will join a distinguished group of Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) executives, government leaders, industry analysts, CEOs, board directors, and GRC practitioners from across Europe. Mr. Moore previously served as the Head of Group Regulatory Risk at HBOS, one of the UK's largest banks. During this time, he raised his concerns about the sales culture in the bank, citing an inadequate balance between the bank's business activities and the bank's risk and compliance strategies. He strongly believed that the bank's sales and growth strategies needed to be re-evaluated in order to minimize risks and losses to its customers, employees, and the industry at large.

During his keynote address, Mr. Moore will provide his first-hand account of the HBOS story and the key lessons learned, highlighting the importance of creating a culture of accountability and ethical behavior in the workplace; the proper separation and balance of power in the boardroom; the process of validating controls statements; and the need for more focus on internal control functions.

Pulling from his own experiences, Mr. Moore will help Summit participants understand how to build stronger Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance programs that can better protect the organization from critical business risks, strengthen internal control functions, and create a more ethical business culture.

Prior to joining HBOS, Mr. Moore was a partner at KPMG in London. He is also a lawyer with over 25 years of experience in the financial sector. Mr. Moore currently runs his own advisory firm on risk management, governance, regulations, and business ethics.
