Paula Deen's Southern Cooking Bible Listed #3 on The New York Times® Bestseller List
Bestseller Cookbook Held Steady at #1 for Two Weeks
SAVANNAH, Ga., Nov. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Since its release three weeks ago Paula Deen's Southern Cooking Bible: The New Classic Guide to Delicious Dishes with More than 300 Recipes (By Paula Deen with Melissa Clark; Simon & Schuster; October 11, 2011;$29.99) has been listed in the top 100 best selling books on Amazon.com and The New York Times. Today Ms. Deen's book is ranked #3 on The New York Times® Bestseller List after two weeks of being #1. The Emmy Award-Winning Food Network star's twelfth book is a compilation of classic recipes that illustrate the diverse cultural richness America's South has to offer.
The Queen of Southern Cuisine focused her efforts in turning her cookbook into the kind of book families of generations ago depended on before the age of food-centric television programming and the internet. As Deen explains, "When I was a newlywed, Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook and The Joy of Cooking were the go to resources to learn how to cook. If your Momma didn't teach you when you were younger, you had no choice but to learn from these cookbooks. I still have those precious books in my kitchen. Although the pages are stained and tattered from decades of use, those books bring back so many wonderful memories of celebrations gone by."
Paula Deen's Southern Cooking Bible features 325 classic American recipes and 16 pages of color photographs. Comfort food aficionados will be sated with Deen's extensive collection of feel good recipes from Ham Biscuits and Fried Green Tomatoes to Shrimp and Grits and Best Ever Southern Fried Chicken. Deen even takes a stab at putting a modern twist to some old American favorites like Creamiest Mac and Cheese in an effort to satisfy today's current trend to eat healthier. Inspired by her sons Bobby and Jamie Deen who prefer lighter versions of their mother's cuisine, Deen has also included recipes like Healthier Mac and Cheese, Easy Oven Fried Chicken and Bobby's Grilled Tuna Burgers.
Deen has just completed a four week national tour which has culminated in appearances on NBC TODAY Show, Rachael Ray, Fox and Friends, CNN Joy Behar, CBS Early Show, CBS The Talk, NPR and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
