Peapod Launches Petition Urging Employers To Offer Free Snacks To Increase Workplace Morale

CHICAGO, March 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Peapod.com, the leading online grocer delivering to both businesses and homes, has launched an online petition to advocate for free snacks for workers across the country. Research conducted by ORC International on behalf of Peapod has shown that the happiest workers are the best fed workers. While 56% of full-time employees are extremely or very happy with their current job that number jumps to 67% among employees whose offices provide free snacks. With such powerful data suggesting the impact of snacks, a fairly inexpensive soft benefit, it's all the more shocking that only 16% of full time employees reported having them readily available.

In an effort to turn the tides (and stock office fridges everywhere with #FreeOfficeSnacks4All), Peapod's online petition will unite hungry coworkers in a plea to employers to provide this much-loved perk. When signing the petition, workers will also be entering their office into a sweepstakes to win a years' worth of free snacks for an eligible office within Peapod's service area. Participants will also receive a coupon for $50 off their first Peapod business delivery.

Survey Methodology: ORC International conducted this research via an online survey of among 1,009 full-time office workers, comprising 504 men and 505 women.  The research was conducted August 11-17, 2015. Additional research was conducted by Lab42 via an online survey among 1,000 full-time office workers, comprising 493 men and 507 women, on April 18-19, 2016.
