Peepers Reading Glasses and Leon & Lulu Partner to Sponsor Books & Authors Event: A Benefit for Detroit Free Press Gift of Reading

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind., Sept. 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to support children's literacy, Peepers Reading Glasses will provide over 150 pairs of fashionable and optical quality reading glasses at Leon & Lulu's Books & Authors event.  Leon & Lulu will celebrate the written word and the hard working writers who put pen to paper with its third annual Books & Authors event, a benefit for Detroit Free Press "Gift of Reading."  An expected 50 authors will be on hand (with pens in hand) to meet their readers, find new fans and sell their books.

The Books & Authors event at Leon & Lulu will be held on Sunday, October 9 from 11am to 5pm. There is no admission fee to exhibit or attend.

Peepers will also provide experts to consult on presbyopic needs (both function and fashion). They will help far-sighted, fashion-forward customers choose the right frames, the correct strength and the perfect look for every outfit.

All proceeds from the day's sale of the reading glasses, tips and raffles as well as 10% of overall sales will benefit the Detroit Free Press "Gift of Reading" Campaign. Since 1987, it has put more than 735,000 books into the hands of Michigan children to help them discover the joy of reading.

The Books & Authors event will be located within the existing 15,000 sq.ft. of Leon & Lulu, a home furnishings and accessories destination in metropolitan Detroit located at 96 W 14 Mile Road in Clawson, Michigan.
