Pennsylvania Governor Corbett Orders US and State Flags at Capitol Complex and in Philadelphia County to Fly at Half-Staff to Honor "Band of Brothers" World War II Veteran
HARRISBURG, Pa., March 11, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Governor Corbett has ordered that all U.S. and Pennsylvania flags be flown at half-staff from sunup on Friday, March 14th until sundown on Friday, March 14th at the Capitol Complex and at commonwealth facilities in Philadelphia County in honor of World War II veteran, William "Wild Bill" Guarnere.
A Philadelphia native, Guarnere was a former non-commissioned officer with Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, in the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army during World War II.
All Pennsylvanians are invited to join in this tribute.
