Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Chairman Named to Key Leadership Position at National Alcohol Beverage Control Association
HARRISBURG, Pa., May 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Chairman Patrick J. "P.J." Stapleton III was named chairman-elect of the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association, NABCA, at the group's annual convention on May 17.
"I'm honored by the board's vote and look forward to serving in that capacity," Stapleton said.
Stapleton currently serves on NABCA's Board of Directors and will assume his new role in May 2011, in which he will be responsible for assisting the new chairman with industry and state relations as well as the management of board affairs.
Stapleton was appointed to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board in 1997 by then-Governor Tom Ridge and was appointed Chairman of the board in 2007. During his tenure on the board, annual sales have gone from $1 billion to nearly $1.9 billion, amounting to an average 7 percent growth rate. The agency has contributed nearly $5 billion to the state's General Fund over the past 10 years.
The National Alcohol Beverage Control Association was founded in 1938 to support alcohol control states. It provides resources, compiles research and analysis on alcohol sales trends and fosters relationships to address policy for the responsible sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages.
