Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Invites K-12 Students to Enter Annual Alcohol Awareness Poster Contest
HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Students are invited to be creative in illustrating the dangers of alcohol use and safe alternatives to underage drinking through the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board's 2010-11 alcohol-awareness poster contest.
"The Alcohol Awareness Poster Contest is a valuable educational tool that gives students an opportunity to learn about the dangers of underage drinking and share that important information with other students," said PLCB Chairman Patrick J. "PJ" Stapleton III. "Through their artwork, students can send an important message to their peers that there are fun alternatives to underage drinking."
A panel of judges will select approximately 50 entries and those students will be recognized at a ceremony in Harrisburg during Alcohol Awareness Week in April. Prizes will include $100 and $50 U.S. savings bonds and the winning artwork will be reproduced into posters, screensavers and bookmarks.
Entries must be received by Nov. 19, 2010. Winning entrants will be announced and contacted in early 2011.
Last year, more than 800 students participated. Since the poster contest started in 1992, students submitted more than 27,000 entries.
Contest guidelines are available online at www.lcb.state.pa.us, click on "Alcohol Education." As part of the PLCB's effort to become more environmentally friendly, guidelines will not be printed and distributed to school districts.
Questions about the contest should be directed to the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board at 717-772-1432, or by e-mail to [email protected].
