Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Unveils New, More Customer-Friendly Store in Indiana County
INDIANA, Pa., Oct. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board today unveiled its latest Fine Wine & Good Spirits store in the Townfair Plaza, 475 Ben Franklin Road South in White Township, Indiana County.
To signify the store's official opening, PLCB officials popped the cork on a bottle of Mazza Vineyards Sparkling Riesling, from Pennsylvania's own Mazza Vineyards.
"Our new retail store concept has truly redesigned the way Pennsylvanians shop for wine and spirits and we couldn't be more pleased with how excited customers are," said Chairman Patrick J. "PJ" Stapleton. "Indiana County is rich with a local heritage like no other part of Pennsylvania and we're proud to have our store become an integral part of the surrounding community."
Customers, 21 and older, attending today's grand opening event may participate in complimentary product tastings including:
- Boyd and Blair's Potato Vodka and 151 Professional Proof;
- Mazza Vineyards Merlot, Vidal Blanc, Concord and Niagara; and
- Maker's Mark and Maker's Mark 46
"Western Pennsylvania has been eager to see what all these new stores have to offer and we're glad to have found such a great location within Indiana County," said PLCB Board Member Tom Goldsmith. "Our focus on the continued redesign of our stores furthers our commitment to offering the best customer experience we can every time someone walks through the front door."
Each rebranded store features a unique floor plan designed in response to customer feedback, and features a central service point at which customers can find assistance, taste products, browse featured items and make purchases.
"This store design has something for every customer, from the novice to the connoisseur," said PLCB Board Member Robert Marcus. "We've built the concept for each new store with our customers in mind, striving to meet their needs while taking them to the next level during their shopping experience."
The new store design offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere for customers to explore educational materials on wine and spirits, which provide information such as:
- Frequently Asked Questions;
- vintage chart;
- food pairing outline;
- party planning guide;
- calorie chart; and
- tips for responsible hosting and consumption.
The Liquor Control Board has embarked on a systematic business plan to make the 75-year-old agency more consumer-focused. The plan includes initiatives to improve the consumer store experience; enhance training for Board employees; boost returns to the state General Fund; assure and promote responsible use of alcohol through regulation and education; and take advantage of new technology.
