Pennsylvanians Gather for the Love of Sake at Sake Fest 2010
HARRISBURG, Pa., April 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Capturing the attention of wine and spirit enthusiasts alike, Pennsylvanians will gather tonight to experience the finest Japanese and U.S. sake as part of the 6th annual Sake Fest.
Twelve sake makers are expected to participate in the ticketed event, which is presented by Philly.com. Participants must be 21 or older to attend.
"Sake is quickly becoming the new drink of choice for many Pennsylvanians," said Patrick J. "P.J." Stapleton III, chairman of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, which sponsors the event. "With so many varieties available, including regional micro-brews, Sake Fest is the perfect place to experience, taste and learn about such a versatile beverage."
Hosted at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel on Wednesday, April 14, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., visitors will be treated to samplings of rare and premium sake while learning how to pair this traditional Japanese drink with a wide variety of food, including cheese, desserts, and chocolate.
During the festival, prominent chefs from Philadelphia area restaurants and catering facilities will prepare and serve a selection of appetizers and foods that complement different types of sake. Participants will have the opportunity to purchase sake featured in the samplings at the on-site Wine & Spirits store.
Tickets are $59.50 when purchased in advance online at www.sakefest.com or $69.50 when purchased at the door – cash only, with net proceeds benefiting the Japan American Society of Greater Philadelphia.
