Penton's IWCE Sees Steady Growth, Wraps up 38th Annual Show

ATLANTA, April 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Penton's 38^th annual International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) took place March 16-20, 2015 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, where 7,000 attended from over 60 countries, and 370 exhibitors showcasing the latest products and technology in the industry.

The show floor grew this year with 80 new exhibitors and 91,000 square feet of exhibit hall space. When asked why they participated in their 10^th IWCE, Chris Long, Chief Marketing Officer of L-com, Inc. stated, "We're able to meet face to face with a lot of existing customers, and for products like ours, there is no substitute for seeing them and discussing them with product experts. We also meet folks that have never met us before, never bought from us before, and want to engage in a deep discussion."

IWCE 2015's conference program was bigger than ever before with 10 conference tracks including a new track focused on cybersecurity. In total, attendees had the opportunity to choose from over 100 short courses, workshops and training classes, presented by 375 industry leading speakers. Chris Baker, Captain of the Roseville, California Fire Department, said, "From the government sector, funds are limited…I kind of have to pick really carefully which seminars, which training classes, I can go to, and IWCE, I've found over the years, has the highest value. I get pretty much everything I need."

In addition, for the first time ever, IWCE co-located with the Electronics Technicians Association (ETA) International. Teresa Maher, President, said, "ETA International was thrilled with the results of its co-location at the recent 2015 IWCE show. Over 100 techs were able to attain career-enhancing skills and knowledge during ETA hosted training and 95 individuals sat for ETA certification testing. ETA was pleased to be a part of an event of this caliber."

IWCE's Keynote addresses were presented by Roger Cressey, a former presidential advisor and current NBC News counter-terrorism analyst; Dr. Robert Griffin of the US Department of Homeland Security, and TJ Kennedy, Acting Executive Director of FirstNet.

New initiatives for 2015 included Town Hall Meetings, IWCE's Job Training & Education Center and the Party in the Park. Town Hall Meetings provided an opportunity for some of IWCE's partners to discuss their latest initiatives with topics ranging from the "Importance of Certification" to "We are OEC". IWCE revamped its job fair with the Job Training & Education Center, an area on the show floor for those looking to discuss job training, continuing education and career planning. Finally, the all new Party in the Park was a smashing success with over 1300 people taking part of the fun which included food trucks and a live DJ for entertainment.

IWCE saw increased media coverage with 40+ articles written about the show by outside news sources. In addition, Twitter was a flurry of activity for the month leading up to the show with 350,000 impressions. Downloads of the IWCE Mobile App also increased from 2014 by 12%.

IWCE's Virtual Show will take place in Fall 2015. The live event will return to the Las Vegas Convention Center for 2016, with conference sessions held March 21-26, 2016 and exhibits on March 23-24, 2016.
