WINTER PARK, Fla., Oct. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- To raise awareness about the health-care industry's lack of price transparency, the Association of Independent Doctors, a national nonprofit trade association, today released a short video satire called "The Perfect-Money-Making Model."
The under-three-minute animated feature outlines 10-steps to create a "perfect money-making model that rains money," but really exposes just how the health-care industry gets away with charging huge amounts while keeping patients in the dark about price.
"Such information is critical today as patients are paying higher premiums, deductibles and copays than ever before and getting worse access to care," said Marni Jameson Carey, AID's executive director, who produced the video with AID student intern Jennifer Charles.
"Almost 20 percent of the average family's budget goes to paying for health care," Carey said. "This kind of awareness will not only help consumers better understand the system, but could also help them save money by empowering them to ask more questions before they see a doctor or sign a consent form."
AID works with its nationwide network of independent doctors to help keep the practice of medicine between the patient and the doctor, to eliminate the middleman, to lower health-care costs, and to help consumers take back control of their health-care dollars.
The new video satire is available on YouTube.
