Permabit SANblox Available to Education, Government Agencies through EMC's WSCA/NASPO Contract

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., May 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Permabit Technology Corporation, the innovative leader in data efficiency technology, today announced that its SANblox appliance is being sold by EMC through its licensing agreement with National Association of State Procurement Officials and the Western States Contracting Alliance (WSCA/NASPO), a program that enables governments and schools across all 50 U.S. states, as well as the District of Columbia and the five organized U.S. territories, to purchase information technology and services under cooperative contracts.

EMC offers world-class data storage products, SAN infrastructure products and backup, recovery and archive solutions, and services as part of a Master Price Agreement with WSCA/NASPO so that purchasing entities can order products appropriate for their needs.  Through its reseller partnership with Permabit, EMC is offering the SANblox appliance, installation and support as part of its WSCA/NASPO agreement to provide public agencies and educational organizations with a ready-to-run, high-performance data efficiency appliance for new and existing EMC Fibre Channel SANs.

The SANblox appliance, which leverages Permabit's award-winning Albireo VDO and HIOPS™ Compression software,  provides "plug and save" data reduction across a wide range of applications, including mixed virtual server, VDI, database (OLTP and data warehouse) and Big Data environments. EMC customers who purchase SANblox can increase the effective capacity of their SANs by 6X, drop effective cost by up to 85 percent and increase performance by up to 400 percent.

"We are thrilled to extend our relationship with EMC Select Program and make SANblox available under EMC's WSCA/NASPO affiliation," said Tom Cook, CEO of Permabit. "SANblox is the qualified deduplication and compression appliance for EMC Fibre Channel-attached storage arrays.  Making SANblox available through the EMC WSCA/NASPO procurement process ensures that public sector organizations can now optimize storage capacity and drive down storage costs."
