Permabit Storage Savings Estimator Calculates Data Reduction Savings

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Dec. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Permabit Technology Corporation, the recognized leader in data reduction technology, today unveiled its Permabit Storage Savings Estimator (SSE), a tool that enables storage vendors (OEMs and service providers) and their customers to identify the savings on storage-related costs by measuring the benefits of deduplication, compression and thin provisioning technologies.

Available as a free download from the Permabit.com and SANblox.com websites, SSE is delivered as a Windows application that demonstrates how Permabit partners and their customers can increase storage ROI by implementing the industry's leading inline data reduction products.  Once downloaded, the tool is easy to use. One need only select a directory to scan, and SSE will return the total amount of space savings organizations can expect when deduplication and compression are applied to their data.  This information can then be used to estimate the TCO of storage, based on an organization's unique environment.

"Products that use Permabit data reduction technologies deliver the unique combination of performance, scalability and efficiency required by today's complex storage environments," says Tom Cook, Permabit CEO.  "The Storage Savings Estimator allows organizations to quantify the TCO savings they will see from implementing Permabit SANblox™ or deploying solutions that incorporate Permabit VDO. It provides an invaluable resource for IT managers who can use it to justify a move toward greater storage efficiency."
