Personhood USA Focuses on Paul Ryan with Demonstration and Ground Campaign Launching Thursday
WASHINGTON, Oct. 21, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- After calling Mitch McConnell to the carpet for his role in funding Planned Parenthood, Personhood USA is now looking at Paul Ryan.
Personhood USA's accountability campaign "#ObamasWallet" went live last week, with billboards in McConnell's home state of Kentucky. The "#ObamasWallet" message was circulated to tens of millions of prolife individuals, and the grassroots have mobilized. Now, Personhood USA has committed to activating thousands of local voters in Wisconsin to let Paul Ryan know that they will not stand for a McConnell repeat.
Paul Ryan, who has set stipulations for becoming the next Speaker of the House, has raised concerns among the grassroots members of Personhood USA, the largest prolife grassroots organization in the United States. In response, prolife volunteers plan to hold a demonstration outside of Paul Ryan's Wisconsin office and launch a ground campaign to make voters aware of Ryan's actions.
"Just as Representative Ryan has conditions for his willingness to serve as House Speaker, so the pro-life voters have conditions in our willingness to support him," explained Jennifer Mason, Personhood USA spokesperson. "We do not want another untrustworthy politician like Mitch McConnell, who has basically become known for his funding of President Obama's agenda. If Paul Ryan fails, he will be held accountable."
In addition to Thursday's demonstrations at Ryan's office, Personhood USA plans to activate their grassroots members by phone and email.
"We are a very large, mobile group of volunteers who are determined to stop Planned Parenthood," continued Mason. "Mitch McConnell has forced us to be accomplices to Planned Parenthood while they kill hundreds of thousands of innocent babies every year. We don't want to hear lip service from Paul Ryan if he's going to maintain the status quo."
