JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Aug. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Pet Paradise Resort, a Jacksonville, FL., based pet boarding, day camp and grooming company, donates a total of $15,000 to four 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations through its 2nd annual Life is Short, Make a Splash giving back campaign.

Pet Paradise held a Facebook contest this summer to encourage followers to vote for their favorite nonprofit for a chance to win the first place donation of $10,000.  Voting was open for two months from June 1 to July 31 with the option to choose between 72 nominated charities. Local communities throughout the United States were eager to share and support the campaign with over 185,000 votes, more than doubling last year's total votes. Additionally, the campaign inspired two generous people to donate $1,000 to their preferred charity if they did not win the Life is Short, Make a Splash contest.

"The outcome has exceeded our expectations, as it was truly a community-driven campaign. We're more than happy to give back to our local communities and help raise awareness of so many deserving charities. Thank you for your support and helping Pet Paradise make a splash this summer," Fernando Acosta-Rua, Pet Paradise COO, said.

On August 3, Pet Paradise was pleased to announce that The Mr. Mo Project won the first place donation of $10,000, Darlington County Animal Rescue in S.C. won $3,000 in second place, Carolina Waterfowl Rescue in N.C. won $1,000 in third place and The Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary in Jacksonville, FL., received an extra giveaway of $1,000.

The Mr. Mo Project is organized by Rowdy To The Rescue, an established 501(c)3 nonprofit responsible for saving numerous shelter dogs, with a focus on finding senior dogs a home across the U.S. All dogs within program receive assistance with veterinarian medical bills and free transportation to the right home. The Mr. Mo Project has rescue affiliates in New York, Florida and Ohio.

The grand prize of $10,000 was officially awarded to The Mr. Mo Project at Pet Paradise Orlando Airport on August 14.
