Petco Teams Up with the San Diego Padres for Annual "Dog Days of Summer" Event

SAN DIEGO, May 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- For the 11^th year, Petco will welcome hundreds of dogs to Petco Park for the "Dog Days of Summer" event taking place on July 1, 2015. The event will give pet parents and their furry companions special access to the 12:40 p.m. baseball game as the San Diego Padres take on the Seattle Mariners.

Petco is currently accepting applications from interested pet parents at www.petco.com/petcopark through May 30, 2015. All approved applicants will receive a free dog ticket and two complimentary human passes, which will be presented to the pet parent at the event. All attendees must be pre-approved, no passes will be approved the day of the event. Gates to the event open at 10 a.m., and attendees who arrive early will be treated to a pre-game "Tail" Gate Party, which will feature pet friendly activities and vendor giveaways.

Professional skateboarder, rallycross driver and 10-time X Games gold medalist Bucky Lasek will be throwing out the first pitch, and join fellow pet parents at the "Dog Days of Summer" Tailgate Party. Lasek's journey in adopting his German Shepherd mix, Jack, is profiled in the latest installation of Petco's "Think Adoption First" video series, which encourages potential pet parents to consider adopting from shelters and rescue organizations. Local San Diego adoption partners, San Diego Humane Society and Labrador and Friends, will be showcasing adoptable pets in hopes of finding their forever homes.

Pet parents are also encouraged to share photos of their pets celebrating their love of the Padres on Instagram using the hashtags #PadresPets and #SDinHD. One lucky winner will be awarded a prize pack including a $500 Petco gift card and Padres pet apparel.
