Pete Mento Joins Ryan Leadership Team as Principal; Will Drive Growth of Customs and Foreign Trade Practice

DALLAS, Aug. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ryan, a leading global tax services firm with the largest indirect and property tax practices in North America, today announced that Pete Mento has joined the Firm as a Principal in the Customs and Foreign Trade practice. Mr. Mento will drive the continued growth of the practice and help clients navigate complex customs duty and foreign trade laws and regulations. He will be based in Ryan's Boston, Massachusetts office.

Mr. Mento specializes in import and export regulations, cargo security, global trade management, duty recovery and elimination, supply chain management, and trade law. Over the span of his highly successful career, he has built a reputation as one of the world's leading experts on international trade policy, customs valuation, and supply chain security. He is also an often quoted source on the development of the U.S. and global economy and the role that trade policy has played.

Prior to joining Ryan, he served as Director of Global Customs and Trade Policy for a Fortune 500 logistics company with global responsibility for all customs activities, trade policy, and governmental partnerships. Mr. Mento has also served as national practice leader for a national accounting firm, managing a $6 million global trade practice. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Transportation Management from Maine Maritime Academy and an ALM Master's degree in Government Trade Theory from Harvard University, and did his doctoral work at the University of Durham where he focused on global customs and trade law.
