Peter Luukko, Executive Chairman, Florida Panthers and Sunrise Sports & Entertainment to be awarded the Certified Hockey Professional (CHP) honorary designation by the Business of Hockey Institute.

In addition to serving as the Executive Chairman of the Florida Panthers, Peter is a member of the NHL Board of Governors and Co-Chairman of the Arena Alliance, a subsidiary of Oak View Group. Peter was previously the President and Chief Operating Officer of Comcast-Spectacor, L.P. where he oversaw all operations of the Philadelphia Flyers. During his 25-year tenure with Comcast-Spectacor, Peter led the company's facility-management business, growing it from seven facilities to over 125, helped the City of Philadelphia solidify itself as an American sports mecca by attract numerous preeminent sports and entertainment events, and was instrumental in the Flyers hosting a NHL Winter Classic and the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Peter's accomplishments in sports and facility management have led to distinct recognition from the University of Massachusetts, the City of Philadelphia and the sports and entertainment industry at large. The honorary CHP is awarded to an individual who epitomizes the qualities, capabilities, and accomplishments desired by existing and future CHPs. An honorary CHP also recognizes individuals who have made impressive off-ice contributions to their organizations that have earned them the respect of their peers in other hockey-related organizations.

Peter Luukko will receive the honorary CHP at the BHI Awards Night occurring in conjunction with the 2017 PrimeTime Sports & Entertainment Conference in Toronto. Certified Hockey Professional (CHP) designation:

The Business of Hockey Institute (BHI) created the CHP designation in 2015. The CHP designation is earned by individuals who have demonstrated management and leadership experience in hockey and hockey-related industries and have completed the graduate level business education developed by BHI and their educational partner Athabasca University.

The CHP was created with four inter-related objectives in mind:

1. Identify and recognize the executives and managers whose efforts make it possible for others to play and watch the most exciting sport on the planet.
2. Encourage talented executives and managers to pursue a career in the hockey business.
