Pharos Diagnostics' Celebrates Their New Medical Director's Return to Tucson
TUCSON, Ariz., Dec. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Pharos Diagnostics is pleased to announce that Dr. Diane Eklund has joined the team as Medical Director. Dr. Eklund is returning to Tucson to pursue her passion in clinical diagnostics.
Dr. Eklund completed her residency in Pathology then subsequently earned her Clinical Pathology Certification from University of Arizona in 1996. She was Division Chief, Transfusion Medicine, at the University of Arizona Health Science Center until 2001. Prior to joining Pharos Diagnostics and returning to Tucson, Dr. Eklund held Medical Director positions at several large blood banks, most recently she was Chief Medical Officer at the San Diego Blood bank.

Last week Pharos Diagnostics announced the opening of its high-complexity laboratory, which operates under the guidelines of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) in central Tucson. The laboratory leverages mass spectrometry technology to provide diagnostic services to clinicians, researchers, and drug development companies.
Dr. Eklund earned dual bachelor's degrees in Nutritional Science and Human Nutrition and Dietetics University of Arizona. She received her Clinical Pathology Certification from the American Board of Pathology in 1996. Dr. Eklund holds active medical licenses in 5 states and is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor at Loma Linda University with hospital staff privileges. She is the recipient of numerous academic and professional awards, and is a frequent publisher and lecturer.
