BURLINGTON, Mass., Sept. 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Philips has expanded its industry-leading outdoor portfolio of LED lighting solutions with a new series of flexible, high-performance roadway luminaires from Philips Roadway Lighting. Designed for demanding roadway environments, the RoadView Series is based on the Philips LEDgine platform, and benefits from a modular approach that protects a customer's technology investment while significantly reducing energy expenses and improving overall light quality.
Featuring best-of-breed Philips technologies such as LUXEON LEDs and Xitanium drivers, RoadView is one of the most advanced outdoor luminaires available on the market today. Based on the LEDgine platform, it allows for different LUXEON configurations, enabling the systems to be tailored to a customer's unique needs such as application and light output. This helps to ensure that light levels and light quality meet the application requirements, while protecting investment in the lighting system by allowing it to be expanded or adjusted as the lighting requirements for a particular roadway system evolve.
Moreover, the RoadView Series can provide large lumen packages of up to 27,000 lumens, making it an effective replacement for up to 250-400 watt High Intensity Discharge (HID) luminaires. Precision optical lenses pin point light direction and are protected with flat tempered glass that help them remain clean and debris-free. The system simplifies installation and maintenance via tool-free access to the electrical compartment, as well as having a photocell receptacle that can be adjusted tool-free.
"With the new RoadView Series we are offering governments, utilities and municipalities more choices in flexible, energy- and cost-efficient LED solutions that can significantly improve the quality and longevity of roadway luminaires," said Denis Lavoie, general manager, Philips Roadway Lighting. "It not only underscores our ongoing commitment to delivering innovative lighting solutions, but also gives local governments a great tool to reduce their energy usage, increase sustainability and offer citizens a better quality light."
RoadView allows cities and municipalities to further extend their technology investment and energy savings with intelligent controls. Not only does the RoadView Series provide a significantly longer life than the HID luminaires it was designed to replace, it offers optional dimming, programmable drivers and outdoor control systems allowing the system to automatically understand road conditions and adjust itself accordingly.
Other Philips Roadway Lighting solutions include the Helios Roadway Luminaire series; Visualume Tunnel and Underpass Luminaire; Metrolux Highmast, Median and Tunnel series; and USS Pole series. Visit www.philips.com/roadwaylighting.
