Pickering Interfaces Introduces Scalable High-Density 2A LXI Matrix for Changing Test Requirements

Front-loaded plug-in modules simplify expansion plus maintenance and support unterminated crosstalk testing

TEWKSBURY, Mass., Sept. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Pickering Interfaces has introduced the 65-217, a modular 2A Ethernet-controlled LXI matrix that lets test engineers expand system capacity as requirements change. Designed for the 65-200 scalable LXI chassis platform, the new plug-in module also simplifies servicing. It supports RF crosstalk measurements on unterminated signal paths, a specific requirement in some aerospace and automotive applications.

"Up to six plug-in modules can be installed in a 65-200 chassis, creating a single matrix rather than separate 64x8 elements. The control software handles the path identification offsets between modules, reducing programming complexity."

Each plug-in adds a 64x8, 1-pole matrix, building to a maximum 384x8 configuration in a 19-inch, 2U chassis. Modules are installed from the front, so users can add or replace them without removing the chassis from the test rack. Versions are available with or without front-panel Y-axis access, and switched Y-axis loop-thru connections support matrix expansion across multiple chassis.

A dual Y-axis analog bus allows multiple external instruments to access different portions of the matrix. It can also divide the system into two independent matrices. In addition, switched Y-axis points allow for the disconnection of unused sections to help maximize bandwidth.

Relay cycle counting helps users plan preventive maintenance and balance usage across signal paths. Integrated BIRST (Built-In Relay Self-Test) and optional external eBIRST self-test tools can identify failed or worn relays, and spare relays are mounted on each plug-in to simplify servicing and reduce downtime.

The 65-217 switches up to 300 VDC or 250 VAC and 2 A, with a maximum power rating of 60 W or 62.5 VA. It is backed by Pickering's standard three-year warranty and guaranteed long-term product support.
