SEATTLE, April 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- PicoBrew, maker of the world's first automated craft beer brewing appliances, launched a Kickstarter campaign this morning and has already surpassed its goal of raising $350,000 to fund initial production of its new Pico Model C in just over 7 hours. More than 1,100 backers have pledged more than $360,000 so far, with some of the earliest contributors securing the new model for just $279USD.
The success of this campaign in the "Food" category also ranks PicoBrew as one of the Top 12 Kickstarter Food Projects of all time. To celebrate reaching this milestone, PicoBrew advanced a feature that had been planned for later release: sous-vide cooking capabilities in the Pico Model C keg. Sous-vide cooking is a popular advanced culinary technique that very evenly cooks meat, fish, vegetables and eggs. Sous-viding in the Model C Keg is more convenient than ever and won't require an adapter. Sous-vide recirculators typically retail for more than $150, so this feature provides substantial value.
"We are blown away by the amazing popularity of our Pico C Kickstarter campaign, and especially thankful to our loyal backers for their support. Reaching full funding in just seven hours is an incredible acknowledgement from the Kickstarter community and craft beer lovers everywhere," said Dr. Bill Mitchell, CEO, PicoBrew. "As special thank you we're going to move up the schedule for Pico Model C sous-vide capability and enable this right out of the box. We're working on more special features to bring you as part of this unprecedented Kickstarter success to thank you further for your support!"
This campaign marks PicoBrew's fourth successful Kickstarter campaign in a row, the most recent of which was for the original Pico Model S in 2015. The Pico Model S was another blockbuster success that received $1.4M in funding in total. PicoBrew's current Pico Model C campaign runs through May 12th and offers incentives including discounted Pico C Kegs, BrewUnlimited PicoPak subscription packages, and discounted Pico Model C units. Units priced at $299USD are still available for early backers.
