SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- New York-based startup, Pijon, is on its way to reinventing the college care package through a unique discovery experience. Since launching the first flock of PijonBox care packages in September 2013, Pijon has seen rapid growth in subscribers and currently delights 1,000 + students each month in all 50 states, earning the company a spot in the 500 Startups Accelerator in San Francisco.

500 Startups boasts an invite-only program for promising startups, and Pijon regards this 4-month incubation as a phase of refinement and growth to more efficiently focus on its core mission of connecting students and families. Graduates of the program include notable companies such as Credit Karma, FanBridge, InternMatch and MakerBot which just celebrated a successful $400 million exit.
"While many students love getting care packages from home, before Pijon they had only been receiving one a year or less." says Rob Caucci, co-Founder and CEO of Pijon. "Pijon makes it easy for families to stay connected through the entire school year."
Pijon has redefined subscription boxes by offering variety in full-sized food and personal care products in themed boxes (female, male, gender-neutral). With a core demographic of highly-engaged 18 to 25-year-olds, Pijon allows these individuals to organically connect with new and noteworthy brands. Some product favorites from previous boxes include Awesome Granola Bars, Rooted Beauty Facial Wipes and sock company, Richer-Poorer. Subscriptions range in price from $25/month to $29/month, making it easy for caregivers to set up an entire semester of packages, or make their own monthly schedule.
In addition to delighting students monthly, Pijon has built social responsibility into their business model by partnering with Project Night Night, a non-profit organization that provides over 25,000 care packages each year to homeless children, with essentials to feel secure, cozy, ready to learn, and significant. A portion of Pijon's profits go directly to funding and preparing Night Night packages.
Co-founded by Rob Caucci, Jeremy Pease and Adam Saynuk, Pijon is headquartered at the Alley NYC coworking space in New York City.
