Pitch to Rich Bid for Service Giving Back Independence to Long Term Patients
May 20, 2015, 04:03 ET
LONDON, May 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Patients2People, a service to help to get long term patients out of hospital and back home with the care and support they need, is competing for £150,000 marketing support plus mentoring and help from Virgin StartUp's professional business advisers for a year in the Pitch to Rich Competition.

P2P (Patients2People), which has been running for two years, plans to start a revolution in care driven by people not services. Their overriding value is kindness, aiming to give people choices and empowering them to be as independent as possible whilst providing a rapid, responsive and safe service with skilled and expert staff.
They are committed to utilising current technology to deliver high quality accurate reports which are properly interpreted through a system of 'Telehealth'. Telehealth focuses on the delivery of health-related services and information through a range of telecommunications technologies, including portable monitoring devices for people with long term conditions, such as asthma, COPD, heart disease and hypertension. Remote monitoring solutions enable patients to get more involved in their own treatment which, aside from improvements to their actual health, has practical benefits such as cutting down on unnecessary visits by health care professionals and admissions.
One P2P patient, Yvonne, has a number of serious challenges in her life, not only health issues. Before P2P she was in hospital three times a month, now she has been at home for over a year and is looking after herself with support at the end of the phone if needed. You can see Yvonne telling her story here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4u_yhrrH2g
Results to date have been impressive, with a record of 100% satisfaction from patients, families and staff, 8,406 hospital bed days released, including 48 frail patients who had been denied rehabilitation as lacking potential – all dressed each day, walking 25 yards and socialising with others; electronic records, helping people to die comfortably in their own beds, families around them, with choices and dignity, a waiting list of staff wanting to work with P2P and savings to the NHS of £2,101,500.
Patients2People is urging people to vote for the project before 20th May: http://www.virginmediabusiness.co.uk/pitch-to-rich/grow/patients2people-ltd/
Gill Bennett, Director at Patients2People, said: "We'd like to see care revolutionised in the UK with the patient in control and supported by us with a legacy of sustainability that can be replicated anywhere.
"We would use the prize to market our concept, make more people aware of the help available, create more apprenticeships, and give more people the opportunity to live in our supported housing.
"Our patients deserve the chance to do more, and with this support we could make that happen. It's a massive undertaking, so please help by voting. This project will help us ensure we can raise awareness and ensure our services continue to have a significant impact on helping people turn their lives around."
