Pittsburgh Partner Michael Vennum Shares Insights on Hot Topics in Oil and Gas Law at July Pennsylvania Bar Institute Events

PITTSBURGH, July 7, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael Vennum, a partner in Pittsburgh at Burleson LLP, will join a panel of attorneys to lead an educational session on critical topics impacting oil and gas law at two upcoming Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI) events. 

The first seminar will be held on July 15 at the PBI Conference Center in Mechanicsburg; the second seminar will be held on July 23 at the PBI Professional Development Conference Center in Pittsburgh.  Both events will shed light on important regulatory issues and current litigation related to shale energy in the Keystone State. 

"Although the practice of oil and gas law in the Appalachian Basin is maturing, there are still constant developments that attorneys must monitor," said Vennum.  "The goal of this course is to help attendees stay up-to-date by providing an overview of current laws, recent regulatory changes, pending and developing legislation, and trends in shale energy."

Vennum has practiced law for more than two decades, focusing primarily in oil and gas title, land use, regulatory, and real estate law.  He represents exploration and production companies and midstream operators in a wide range of regional and development matters, including local zoning, road use, municipal ordinance challenges, and general real estate concerns. 

Vennum has successfully obtained land development approval for well pad sites; central facilities, including compressor stations; pipelines; and metering stations.  His background in the Appalachian Basin also includes developing primary term holdover language for oil and gas leases, negotiating road use and maintenance agreements, obtaining local approval for well site sewage holding tanks, and brokering the purchase and sale of oil and gas estates.  He is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, and New York.
