Planet Bordeaux To Host 4th Annual Goldmine Wine Tastings In New York & Chicago
NEW YORK, Sept. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Planet Bordeaux, representing Bordeaux & Bordeaux Superieur AOCs, is heading to New York for the fourth annual Goldmine tasting today, September 16, 2015. The all-day event offers the unique opportunity for trade and media to discover the most accessible, affordable and delicious wines that Bordeaux has to offer. Over 90 wines will be tasted including red, white, rose, sparkling and sweet wines. Goldmine Chicago will take place on Friday, September 18, 2015.
Michael Madrigale, Wine Director for Bar Boulud, Boulud Sud and Epicerie Boulud, and ambassador for Planet Bordeaux wines in the U.S., will present seminars at both events. Well respected in the wine industry, Madrigale was selected in 2014 by Wine Enthusiast Magazine as one of the "Top 40 Under 40 Tastemakers" and has been named by both Food & Wine Magazine and Wine Enthusiast as "Top Sommelier of The Year."
"While everyone is aware of the Grand Crus of Bordeaux, not everyone knows about the fantastic wines of Planet Bordeaux," says Madrigale. "These wines force us to face an undeniable fact: Bordeaux doesn't have to be expensive to be good."
Live streaming of the harvest at Chateau de Reignac in Bordeaux will be shown at 11:45AM and again at 1:00PM during Goldmine NYC. Participants will be able to exchange with the winemaker.
Goldmine NYC will take place today at Midtown Loft & Terrace located at 267 5th Ave (29th Street), 11th Floor from 11:00AM - 6:00PM. Goldmine Chicago will take place on Friday, September 18, 2015 from 12:00PM-5:00PM at Kiki's Bistro (900 N Franklin Street).
The largest winemakers' association in France, Planet Bordeaux includes seven AOC's - Bordeaux Blanc, Bordeaux Superieur Blanc, Bordeaux Rose, Bordeaux Clairet, Bordeaux Rouge, Bordeaux Superieur, and Cremant (sparkling) - and represent 55% of the Bordeaux wine region (387 million bottles in 2014).
