Tickets Now On Sale
HARRISBURG, Pa., Nov. 4, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Connoisseurs of fine spirits will have the chance to sample more than 200 whiskeys and other fine spirits at Pennsylvania's annual whiskey festivals, to be held in Philadelphia on Nov. 10 and in Pittsburgh on Nov. 12.
"These festivals give people a unique opportunity to try different products and discover new tastes while at the same time, meeting the distillers who make each product unique," said Patrick J. "P.J." Stapleton III, chairman of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, which sponsors the two events.
The seventh-annual Philadelphia Whiskey Festival and the fourth-annual Pittsburgh Whiskey and Fine Spirits Festival will feature premium and super-premium whiskeys from around the world, including single malt Scotches, fine Irish whiskeys, small-batch Kentucky bourbons as well as Tennessee whiskeys and artisanal ryes.
In Philadelphia, the first 100 attendees will have a chance to win a tasting of the ultra premium Louis XIII Grande Champagne Cognac, which retails for $1,849.99. Twenty people will be selected to participate. Raffle tickets will also be available to win one of five additional spots.
Those who prefer other spirits can sample an extensive selection of aged rums, tequilas and cognacs, plus vodkas and new flavored spirits and liqueurs. Attendees can sample various bottlings from one product line, or compare different distillers' offerings of the same spirit. New favorites can be purchased at a special PA Wine & Spirits Store at each venue.
Food will be served at both festivals, so attendees may enjoy responsibly. You must be at least 21 years old to attend.
The Philadelphia Whiskey Festival will run from 6:30-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at The Ballroom at The Ben, 834 Chestnut, Philadelphia. Proceeds benefit Safe Home Philadelphia, an initiative of the Philadelphia Committee to End Homelessness. Tickets are $85 in advance or $95 at the door.
