Point 27 Shares Tidings of Hope Inscribed on Shields of Strength
ATLANTA, Dec. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- For the third year, Point 27, an Atlanta-based nonprofit, will give silver Folded Flag keepsakes inscribed with scripture to the children from across the United States gathering in Dallas for the annual December Snowball Express, in recognition and in honor of their lost loved ones.
Year-round, Point 27 gives scripture-inscribed Shields of Strength https://www.shieldsofstrength.com/ to members of the military, military veterans, first responders, families of fallen officers and others. To help, visit online https://point27.org/contact/.
"Point 27 provides unique opportunity to individuals, and to church, civic and corporate groups for tax-deductible giving to sponsor these gifts of Shields of Strength -- all year, and especially during this season for which Jesus is still the reason," said U.S. Army (Ret.) Col. David Dodd, director and founder of Point 27.
The Folded Flag Pendant Necklaces which Point 27 will award, during this year's Snowball Express event Dec. 11-16, to each child who has lost a parent in the line of military duty, are inscribed with the scripture: "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends."
The pendants are designed to simulate the folded American flag the families of fallen soldiers receive at their loved ones' funerals, Dodd said.
"The pendant is designed of stainless steel – meant to be passed down through the generations in memory and honor of the lost loved one," he said. "Many Gold Star Family members say they find comfort in wearing that pendant close to their hearts and being able to grasp it and hold it tightly."
Year-round, to military commanders and chaplains, members of the military, and to veterans, Point 27 sends dog tags engraved with scripture, like Joshua 1:9, "I will be strong and courageous. I will not be terrified, or discouraged; for the Lord my God is with me wherever I go."
First responders are also high on Point 27's gift list. Point 27 awards Thin Blue Line Shields of Strength to police departments, engraved with Matthew 5:9, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." Thin Red Line Shields of Strength for firefighters are engraved with the verse from Isaiah 6:8, "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' And I said 'Here I am. Send me!"'
