Popularity of "Extreme Couponing" Increasing in the UK

With cash-strapped families looking for ways of reducing their food shopping bills, the American craze of extreme couponing is gaining popularity in the UK.

In the USA, some families spend hours each week gathering discount vouchers which can help them save up to 90% on their shopping bills, and this has been demonstrated in a reality TV show which shows people going to extreme lengths to save money including rooting through rubbish for discarded vouchers and buying in bulk.

For voucher codes 2011 seems to have been a bumper year, with an 11% increase year on year in the redemption of both retailer-specific and brand coupons according to the YouGov survey. The use of vouchers looks set to continue into 2012 with 81% of those who have not used online vouchers before saying that they would be willing to do so.
