HARRISBURG, Pa., May 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Can Prebiotin play a role in managing and possibly preventing an illness that affects more than 500,000 Americans every year, with more than 29,000 related deaths? Christian John Lillis, PLF's executive director, interviewed Dr. Wilson Jackson, a gastroenterologist and son of Prebiotin founder, Frank W. Jackson, MD, on the growth and management of microbiome-related illnesses like C. diff. "Dysbiosis is the term applied to the unfavorable population of bacteria that may adversely affect a person's health," says Jackson. "We have over 600 different species of bacteria in our gut, and C. diff is one them, but it's normally kept in check by the other bacteria. Antibiotic use can throw the whole balance off."

Peggy Lillis, the mother of PLF co-founders Christian and Liam Lillis, died from a C. diff infection after antibiotics prophylaxis following a dental procedure in 2010. "Most cases of C. diff infection, including our mother Peggy's, are precipitated by using antibiotics, which often deplete the good gut bacteria along with the bad. This dysbiosis allows infections like C. diff to take over. That's why we share Prebiotin's deep belief that a healthy gut microbiome is a vital part of good health," says Christian John Lillis.

During the interview for the blog, Jackson explains that according to research studies, Prebiotin,  oligofructose-enriched inulin (OEI), is able to help a better microflora take root.  With the product's ability to nourish the desirable bacteria in the colon, Jackson uses the prebiotic fiber before, during, and after Fecal Microbial Transplantation (FMT), which has a 90% + cure rate for C. diff in his practice.
