Premiere Estates Auction Company to Conduct Auction of the Dolobran Estate in Haverford, PA

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- When the one-time, one-day Auction of 231 Laurel Lane closes on October 6th, the winning bidder will take ownership of a 17,000-square foot 1.94-acre historic property in Lower Merion, one of the most exclusive townships in not only the Main Line, but also the nation. This home also boasts nine bedrooms and nine bathrooms, a grand ballroom, and several other incredible features. Premiere Estates Auction Company (PEAC) will conduct the Auction at Noon.

The owner of this magnificent property has enlisted PEAC, in conjunction with Robin Gordon of Prudential Fox & Roach, to auction both the estate and adjacent lot (225 Laurel Lane). The lot will be sold via Absolute Auction, meaning there is no reserve or minimum. The Dolobran Estate's starting bid is just $750,000, which is drastically below its original list price of $4,499,000.

The Dolobran Estate was designed by Frank Furness, the most important architect the Philadelphia region has ever produced. Furness began designing this home in 1881, continuously modifying it over the next 14 years. Built for shipbuilder Clement Griscom, President of the International Mercantile Marine Company, it was laid out in an asymmetrical Victorian Gothic revival style. The home has since undergone renovations consistent with Furness' vision. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this property is among the most important residences in the Philadelphia area.
