NEW YORK, May 3, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The African wildlife conservation organization, Tusk, whose Royal Patron is HRH The Duke of Cambridge, is working with longtime partner, Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya to help bring the northern white rhino back from the brink of extinction.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy is home to Sudan, the only remaining male northern white rhino in the world. At 43 years old, he has failed to successfully mate with Najin and Fatu, the only two remaining female northern white rhinos.
The conservancy has teamed up with the world's leading dating app, Tinder, to launch a new awareness campaign about "The Most Eligible Bachelor in the World."
This campaign aims to raise $9 million to support ongoing research into Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART) by a consortium of institutions. Once perfected, this technology, in particular in vitro fertilization (IVF), will be used to help achieve successful pregnancies to gradually build up a viable population of northern white rhinos.
While Sudan is under round-the-clock armed surveillance to protect him from poachers, Tusk is supporting Ol Pejeta in this final attempt to save the northern white rhino.
Tusk's mission is to advance innovation to protect Africa's wildlife and natural habitat. By empowering local communities and connecting global partners, Tusk provides promising solutions to the crisis facing Africa's wildlife.
Tusk USA is a 501(c)(3) registered charity headquartered in New York City.
