PITTSBURG, Kan., Sept. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- BMO Not-for-Profit Services, a part of BMO Financial Group and a division of BMO Harris Bank N.A., announced today the selection of the Pritchett Trust's 2011 grant recipients. More than $395,000 in grants will be distributed to organizations in Southeast Kansas, the majority of which operate in Crawford County.
The mission of Pritchett Trust is to improve the quality of life in Crawford County and Southeast Kansas by supporting initiatives that serve these populations.
The Trust was funded in 1994 after the deaths of long-time Pittsburg residents, William B. Pritchett, veteran of World War I, and Athlyn C. Pritchett. Soon after their marriage in 1920, they operated the Pritchett Insurance Agency in Pittsburg. During the 1930's and 1940's, they invested in oil and gas leases in Kansas and Oklahoma, which proved to be successful.

The following organizations will benefit from the Pritchett Trust grants: American Legion Post #43, Arma City Library, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Crawford County, Boy Scouts of America, The Broadway Tower Corporation, Caring for Kids, Catholic Charities, Inc., Cato Historical Preservation Association, Chicopee Foundation, Inc., Children's Advocacy Center, City of Frontenac, Kansas, City of Pittsburg Parks & Recreation Department, Colonial Fox Theatre Foundation, Elm Acres Youth and Family Services, Franklin Community Council, Inc., Hearts and Hammers of Pittsburg, Inc., Meadowlark Elementary, Mother to Mother Ministry, New Hope Special Olympics, Northeast School District, Pawprints on the Heartland, Pittsburg Adult Education Center, Pittsburg Community Theatre, Pittsburg Family YMCA, Pittsburg High School, Pittsburg Public Library, Pittsburg State University, R.V. Haderlein Elementary School, The Salvation Army, SEK Interlocal #637, SEK Learning Center, St. Mary's Elementary School, St. Mary's-Colgan Schools, Unified School District 247 Southeast, Wesley House.
The grant selection process includes participation by M&I's Pittsburg Advisory Board of Directors: Jack Overman, Rick Baden, Tim Collar, Dennis Crain, Ron Marrone, Frances Mitchelson, Ray Ryan, Dr. Ron Seglie, and Vince VanBecelaere.
Since the first grants were presented in 1995, and including the current awards for 2011, the Trust has awarded a total of more than $6.5 million to organizations in Southeast Kansas and Crawford County.
Open to the public, the ceremony and check presentation will be held at the M&I Pittsburg branch located at 417 N. Broadway on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 4:00 p.m.
