PRIVACY ALERT: Esse Health Under Investigation for Data Breach of Over 263,000 Patient Records

SAN FRANCISCO, July 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Schubert Jonckheer & Kolbe LLP is investigating a data breach impacting the sensitive personal and health information of 263,601 patients whose data was in the possession of Esse Health, a Missouri-based healthcare provider.

Esse Health became aware of suspicious activity within its network environment on April 21, 2025. The unauthorized actor had access to Esse Health's electronic medical records systems and phone systems. Esse Health restored its information-sharing systems on May 13, 2025, but did not fully restore its phone and network systems until June 2, 2025.

Although the breach occurred in April, Esse Health did not begin notifying impacted patients until on or around June 20, 2025, which may have violated state and federal laws. The company recently informed patients that the following personal and health information may have been stolen in the breach: names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, medical record numbers, patient account numbers, health information, and health insurance details.
