PRN's Omega-3 Hits Major Endpoints Against Placebo in a Study of Dry Eye Symptoms
IRVINE, Calif., April 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- ALPHAEON Corporation and its subsidiary company PRN Physician Recommended Nutriceuticals, a leading provider of nutritional supplements, announced today the upcoming presentation of a new study assessing the effect of oral re-esterified triglyceride omega-3 fatty acids for patients with dry eye symptoms and meibomian gland dysfunction. Findings from the study will be presented at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) conference on April 19, 2015 at 8:00 AM, by Dr. Eric Donnenfeld a clinical professor of ophthalmology at New York University and immediate past president of ASCRS.

The placebo controlled, double masked, randomized trial measured various endpoints including tear osmolarity, ocular surface disease index, tear break-up time, corneal staining and omega-3 index levels. During the trial, subjects received PRN Dry Eye Omega Benefits® supplement for three months or a placebo. The study demonstrated that oral consumption of re-esterified triglyceride omega-3 fatty acids results in a statistically significant improvement in many of the above endpoints measured.
